Tora Coastal Track

Tomorrow I will drive to the Wairarapa (about 35 minutes out of Martinborough, since you asked), to begin a three day tramp/hike of the Tora Coastal Walk for a magazine story.

I sprained my ankle while out running a few weeks back, so am hoping that it's up to the 30km round trip. See you on the other side...

Now have to write the story

Back from a few days down south in New Zealand's second largest city for a magazine story which, as luck would have it, involved gratuitous amounts of food and beverages.

Here's some visuals from my fleeting visit.

It's been a long time between drinks, but tomorrow I fly down to the garden city to spend two days eating and drinking my way around it for a story. The fast has begun in preparation.

Society of Fear

Apologies for the radio silence - the Animator has been in China for work this week (freezing his butt off in minus 12 degrees in Beijing while we've been sweltering, ha!) and I've been flat out.

So am playing catch-up. Here's a story of mine from yesterday's Canvas Magazine (NZ Herald) in which I interview a German sociologist who had some interesting things to say about fear (click here to read the online version).

Beautiful Kerikeri

I'm ashamed to say I've never been to the Bay of Islands before. Yeah, I know.

But last week I got a chance to put that right when I flew to Kerikeri for a few days for a story. I ate and drank my way around the largest town in Northland and managed to fit in a bit of sightseeing too.
Gosh it's a beautiful part of the country and I wish I'd visited a long, long time ago.
