My story about an incident in New York last year - and the so-called Bystander Effect - was published in yesterday's Sunday Magazine (click here to read).

Cream of the London Crop
Back in November when I was in London, I interviewed Margot Henderson, the Kiwi-born chef who's one half of London's most famous culinary power couples.
The Sunday Magazine, part of the Sunday Star Times, ran the feature today as part of its food issue (click here to read).

Home - and a Sunday Magazine story
We left Honolulu at 11.00pm on Friday and arrived back at 6.30am today; Saturday, it appears, was simply gobbled up by the ether.
A slightly longer flying time of nine hours - although it could potentially have felt much longer, given the group of babies on our flight apparently on their way to a screaming convention. And all were busy limbering up. Thank the lord for sleeping pills, is all I can say.
But it is good to be home, and to see the fur baby who, thankfully, keeps within a much lower ear-shredding range. And it may not be 32 degrees in Wellington, but at least the sun came out to greet us.
Also, it's been a while between drinks (mainly because my time has been sucked by other publications this year) but my story about PANKS (Professional Aunts, No Kids) was published in the Sunday Star Time's Sunday Magazine today. Click here to read.

Moving pictures
Today there were 678 words written for a feature for a Sunday magazine, tedious housework and a walk to the veggie market to buy fresh flowers (which turned out to be an epic fail as by 2.00pm the flower chick had obviously grown weary of the chilly southerly and legged it. On the plus side, both the butcher and the burger guy gave the Hound chunks of meat; in his world, that's like Christmas to the power of 10).
There was also a flurry of picture moving. Yesterday the framer called to say our pictures were finally ready (question: have they joined the slow framing movement?!) including the one below which my friends Frenchie and Martin gave me when I was staying with them in Bristol recently. The new addition necessitated the moving about of art work, and much sighing from the Animator as I exercised my womanly perogative to change my mind.
And so endeth my report from the trenches of a slow Sunday.

The Dress Hunter
Today my story about finding my wedding dress - and how a student job at a bridal store shaped my tastes - was the cover story of the Sunday Star Times' Sunday Magazine. Click here to read.
As much as I love writing these essay-type pieces, this year I'm planning to do more corporate writing (mainly because it pays more and the editors aren't such arses). Which means this may be one of the last of these pieces I write for a while...
But onwards and upwards, eh....

Sunday Magazine
Yes it's two days late, but on Sunday the SST ran my Christmas letter to my bottom. And no, that is not a typo. Click here to read.

The Rise of the Silver Splitters
Yes, today is Thursday but in my defence I was out of the country last Sunday when my piece about the rise in divorce rates of 50-60 year olds, the so called Silver Splitters, ran and playing catch up this week has sucked the life force out of me.
But the piece was last week's Sunday Star Times cover story (insert happy dance). Better late than never, huh? Click here to read.

Colour me Quick
Today's Sunday Star Times' Sunday Magazine runs my piece on why men who go grey are labelled 'silver foxes' and called distinguished, sexy and sophisticated (the so-called 'Clooney Effect') while women who do the same are accused of 'letting themselves go'. And my failed attempts to overcome my irresponsible relationship with the dye bottle (click here to read).
