A Shortland Street Star

I stopped watching NZ's favourite soap, Shortie, about the time I left TVNZ (yup, around the same time the unicorns were refusing to get on the ark).

But that didn't stop me from spending time today with one of the programme's best loved actors, Pua Magasiva, and his twin bro Tanu for a woman's magazine.

They were all kinds of fun to interview and have given me something else to write on the horrendously long flight to Oman tomorrow (I am now up to three stories...thank God for the tranquility of the Emirates lounges in Auckland and Brisbane, is all I can say...)

Seven years ago today...

we were doing this in Vegas - for a story for NEXT Magazine (click here to read).

It might not be how everyone rolls in the marital department but it defo worked for us.

Happy Anniversary to the fantabulous Animator and here's to many more happy years.

A good kicking to the God of Travel

Today an email plopped into my inbox inviting me on a media trip to Chile. But, dammit, I will be in Oman and Dubai at that time.

To say I am gutted is like saying the Taj Mahal is a nice building. When I manage to unfurl myself from the foetal position, I will dust myself off and realise that everything happens for a reason, it wasn't meant to be, yada, yada. But for now I am marinating in the juices of anger and resentment.

Easter

Easter, as the irritating tee-vee adverts tell us, isn't just about chocolate eggs and hot cross buns.

It's also, as we found out this weekend, about the Waiterere Beach Easter Carnival where we spent Saturday afternoon chilling out.

It was also about the shit-ton of work I need to get done before I head overseas this coming weekend.

To break the tedium, there were twice-daily trips to the beach (including on Sunday with my friend Jo and her rescue greyhound, who also have a bach at Waiterere). And while the Animator covered every conceivable surface with fine dust as he plastered, sanded and replastered the bathroom walls, I got my own DIY groove on with the painting of the firewood receptacle he knocked up for me.

Am quietly chuffed at how well it turned out. Bring on the cold weather...

Thunderbirds Media Conference

Tonight after work I was lucky enough to get a media tix to the media launch of the FAB show the Animator has been working on.

First up was the press conference which featured, among others, Sir Richard Taylor (second from left), before a tour of the sets (apologies for my poor photos below - the second is of the miniature of Tracy Island).

It was then time for drinks and canapes at Park Road Post before a screening of the first two episodes. SOOO proud of husband and the super talented team out there for this great piece of work.

If you are in NZ, it will be screening on TV2 Sundays at 7,00pm while the co-pro partner, ITV in the UK, will be screening it about the same time.
