Better

After an indecent amount of sleep and an even more indecent breakfast (here's looking at you, strangely addictive Austrian pancakes), I got my head around the subway system and found my way to the Freud Museum. Under normal circumstances, I'd link to their site but the tablet is still stretching my patience so if you want to know more about this small but perfectly formed museum, based in the house where Freud lived before fleeing the Gestapo in 1938, you'll have to ask Mr Google yourself.

The sun also figured out what it was supposed to be doing and I wandered around the main shopping/eating area enjoying the warmth. And making friends with lots of Viennese dogs; I'd forgotten the civilised European attitude to pets who are allowed on the subway, in shops, etc. Bristol would be so jealous of all the canine mates I've made today.

Later there was a half hour run which was fabulous and in a few hours our group of 12 journos and 40 travel agents from NZ, OZ and the US will be meeting for dinner. Happy days.

Today's visuals are of the Freud Museum.

Seriously?

Today, while waiting to meet a client, a student sitting next to me in reception was rifling through her handbag. Somehow it fell off her knee, scattering its contents all over the floor. Amongst the detritus I counted at least 20 condoms. Either this girl is a rep for a latex company or she's having a really good time. It has to be said that neither the girl, nor any of the other students in the waiting room, batted an eyelid.

In other random news, a colleague bent my ear about tonight's lunar eclipse and how it seemed to be doing odd things to folks; I was initially dismissive of that "hippy shit" but, on reflection, have decided there may be a grain of truth. Today has brought all sorts of odd behaviour from all sorts of folks. I am choosing to be Zen about it and put it down to the lunar stuff, rather than good old fashioned bad moods and tanty throwing. All I can say is, it better be over by tomorrow.

One thing that did gladden my heart was this gorgeous story from the Huff Post about a homeless dude's dog that waited outside a Brazilian hospital for eight days for him. Which, once again, confirms which side of the animals Vs humans scale I come down on.

In keeping, today's visuals are of more cute woofers (and it's not even Friday)...

My brain is about to explode

This morning I kept company with three very nice architects as they walked me through their amazing renovation of an historic building (once a department store, now the funky HQ of an energy company).

I have spent large chunks of the afternoon trying to turn phrases such as 'linear structures that provide for greater social convergence' and 'spatial experiences' into plain English. My brain now feels like boiled marmalade.

Worse still, Wednesday night's running group embarked on a longer than usual trot and my left knee is now hurting like buggery. If I have to limp around HK next week, I will not be best pleased.

Today's visuals are, what else, but cute canines.

Have a lovely weekend y'all and while you're out having a good time, think of me strapped to the lap top trying to make sense of architectural jargon...
