Apparently there is a way around it but you have to set it up before you step onto Chinese soil. Retrospect is a wonderful thing, as they say...
Censorship aside, we LOVED our six days in the city once dubbed the "whore of the Orient". The Animator had a suitably festive milestone birthday and we shopped, ate, drank and filled my pad with notes (and the camera's memory stick) for the four stories I have to produce to justify the free trip. And, heat seekers that we are, we adored the 30+ degree heat.
